Taking Steps to Beat Breast Cancer

A first of its kind with an emphasis on fostering our community within Wards 7 and 8, the 13th annual Power of Pink fitness event is taking the shape of a Walkathon (PLEASE NOTE: Status bar reflects sponsorships, ticket sales, and direct donations. It does not account for the peer-to-peer fundraising efforts of each individual participant.)

The Power of Pink (POP) was founded in 2011 to raise funds to support organizations that provide breast health education, screenings, and treatment to women in need in the Washington DC Metro area. Over the past 12 years The Power of Pink raised and gave more than $1.3 million not just to Breast Care for Washington, but also to Arlington Free Clinic, Capital Breast Care Center, Mary’s Center, and Mercy Health Clinic.

WHAT'S A WALKATHON?

A first of its kind for BCW, with an emphasis on fostering our community within Wards 7 and 8, the 13th annual Power of Pink is taking the shape of a Walkathon -

A walkathon is a community-driven fundraising event where participants walk a set course to raise money and awareness for a cause. It combines physical activity with philanthropy, allowing participants of all ages and fitness levels to contribute to meaningful initiatives by securing pledges for each lap or distance walked. Join us to make a difference—one step at a time!

Each participant will have the opportunity to fundraise for this amazing cause! By enlisting the support of your family and friends, you'll be supporting Breast Care for Washington’s mission to provide breast cancer screening, diagnostics, and patient support to underserved communities.

Once registered, each individual will receive a personalized fundraising page, which will allow your friends and family to support through:

Per-Lap Pledges: Donors can pledge a certain amount of money for each lap the participant completes around the Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy Field 1 during the walkathon.

Flat Donations: Donors can also make a flat donation regardless of how many laps the participant completes.

Each lap around the concourse of the Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy will be 0.2 miles (5 = 1 mile)! All participants will be required to log a minimum of 5 laps (whether walked or not) at the conclusion of the event! Those who raise the most in donations will be eligible for prizes and cash kickbacks!
